Common questions
How long must I hold a green card first?
Generally five years, or three years if you are married to a U.S. citizen and meet the requirements. Time spent outside the country can interrupt this, so if you have travelled a lot, have us check the dates before you file.
I have something in my record. Should I still apply?
Talk to us before applying. Arrests, tax issues, missed selective-service registration and long absences all need to be assessed honestly first, because an application that draws attention to an unresolved problem can do real harm.
What is on the test?
A civics portion on U.S. history and government, plus reading, writing and speaking English, with exemptions available based on age and years of residence. We go through the material and tell you if an exemption applies to you.
